Lidakense Cliff Stonecrop Sedum Succulent

Lidakense Cliff Stonecrop Sedum Succulent

The Lidakense Cliff Succulent is a member of the Stonecrop Sedum Succulent group. Or maybe not? It looks like the people who make decisions are going back and forth as to whether these are still under the Sedum genus or a separate genus called Hylotelephium. The Sedum genus name comes from the Latin 'sedo,' meaning "to sit." Perhaps this is because they're so short and tend to grow in clumps.  Regardless, we love them!

These plants are one of many succulents we offer here for sale. Succulents, which includes cacti like the 50 foot tall mighty saguaro and edible prickly pear cactus, store water in their leaves. Like most succulents they prefer well-drained soil, and you only need to water them when the soil becomes dry. This makes for a low maintenance low water use addition to your garden.

The Lidakense Cliff Succulent is native to Japan and loves to make its home in the cliffs. Because of this nature it makes an excellent choice for rock gardens.

The mounds of blue-gray foliage develop a pink edge during the warmer months which create a visual interest in your landscaping. And because it only grows between 2"-4" tall it makes a wonderful choice for bordering your garden or walkway where it can be seen easily by visitors. Just be sure to plant in areas with full sun. The Lidakense Cliff Succulent is a perennial evergreen for any property located in zones 4-11. Blooms of starry pink flowers in August and September bring bees and butterflies. And who doesn't love that?
