Description
General - Houseleek is a plant of the Crassulaceae family with a rosette of scaly leaves. The plant reproduces vegetatively through the development of axillary buds (eyecups) encircling the mother plant and forming a "cushion" of seedlings. The flowers are gathered on a "cyme" type inflorescence on a short floral stem 8 to 12 cm high. The flowers, from 8 to 16 petals, show a color ranging from pale pink to dark pink, sometimes red and more rarely white. There are about forty species, from Europe and Asia Minor and a very large number of cultivars.

Cultivation - Houseleeks grow in at sunny position , in poor to ordinary soils that can be stony, slightly alkaline, always well drained and rather dry. Heavy, poorly drained and wet soils are not suitable for the survival of houseleeks. These plants are hardy perennials (zone 3) very resistant to drought. They are useful for "greening" and blooming green roofs, alpine gardens, cement troughs, crevices of dry stone walls and rock gardens.

Well rooted plant growing and shipped in a 3.5" pot! Some soil will be removed for shipping.
