Piña Colada - Blown Glass Tree Ornament by Old World Christmas

A sweet concoction of rum, strained pineapple, coconut cream/milk and pineapple juice then served in a hurricane glass and garnished with a pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry, and paper umbrella. Robert Cofresi, a Puerto Rican pirate, gave this drink to his crew, to boost their morale.  It probably also helped prevent scurvy.

Today it's the national drink of Puerto Rico and is celebrated annually on July 10th.

Each figurative glass ornament produced by Old World Christmas is hand crafted in age-old tradition using the same techniques that originated in the 1800's. Molten glass is mouth-blown into finely carved molds made exclusively for Old World Christmas, before a hot solution of liquid silver is poured inside. The ornaments are then hand-painted and glittered in a series of labor-intensive steps to achieve the beautiful creations.
