Product Description

Sempervivium 'Ruby Heart' . A bright red rosette with silvery green shading on its leaf tips. This cultivar is a hybridized seedling of S. 'Silverine' and can grow quite large.

Hens Chicks need plenty of outdoor sunlight to show their best colors and maintain a tight rosette form. They thrive in gritty, well-draining soils and pots with drainage holes. They produce new offsets or "chicks" on stolons. These chicks can be left to form tidy clusters or removed to share and transplant.
Just so you know, this beautiful plant looses its pink center in the heat of the summer. Come fall, it comes back and stays until about June. But July, Aug and Sept. the plant looks only green.

Sempervivum do most of their growing in the spring and summer, and will thrive with weekly watering. They are incredibly frost hardy and will happily overwinter under an insulating blanket of snow.

I would rape this one 10 stars if I could! Perfectly package dropped off and paper, and tulle to keep all the soil in place. The coloring is truly spectacular. The specimen I received happen to be in the color that you see in the photos plus there were a few pops, so few of those were wearing dark reddish screen. So I could see all the Colorforms of the specimen, but seriously I can’t get over the bright yellow red of this one.!
