These succulent perennials form small compact clusters of rosettes. Green leaves with reverse red backings make up the very small rosettes with inside cob-webbing, hence, the 'spiderweb' hen chicks nickname. They are easy to grow, are drought tolerant with well drained soil - avoid standing water....will result in rot. Also, allow to dry completely prior to each watering - water very little during winter months.
Sempers tend to have a color dormancy period or season when temperatures are cold. The rosettes show off their colors with the onset of summer, typically. They are sun lovers great for containers, alpine gardens,
rock gardens, just to name a few:)
They grow and spread quickly....their fibrous and shallow root systems do well even in vertical settings. After the plant blooms and sets seed, though it dies, many offsets will return to take its place!
