Sempervivum ‘Bernstein’ is a unique variety of Hens and Chicks (Sempervivum), featuring rosettes of sharply pointed, fleshy, bronze-gold leaves. The centers of the rosettes often glow green, and the leaf tips can flush red in certain weather conditions.

- Sunlight: Hens & Chicks need plenty of outdoor sunlight to show their best colors and maintain a tight rosette form. They thrive in gritty, well-draining soil and pots with drainage holes.
- Propagation: These plants produce new offsets or “chicks” on stolons. You can leave these chicks to form tidy clusters or remove them to share and transplant.
- Watering: Weekly watering is recommended, especially during spring and summer. If temperatures exceed 80°F, provide afternoon shade.
- Cold Hardiness: Sempervivum ‘Bernstein’ is incredibly frost hardy (down to -20°F) and can thrive through winter under an insulating blanket of snow.
