Faramir Succulent - Hens & Chicks Houseleek Sempervivum Plant - 4 inch pot
Sempervivum ‘Faramir’ is a delightful hybrid succulent by Betty Z. Bronow in 1989 in the United States. It is part of the "Lord of the Rings" series and results from a cross between Sempervivum 'Bronze Pastel' and Sempervivum 'Jungle Fires'.
- Appearance: ‘Faramir’ displays seasonal color variations, transitioning between shades of pink, gold, and burgundy. Its rosette form is neat and eye-catching.
- Offsets: This cultivar produces numerous offsets (also known as “chicks”) each spring. These offsets can be left to form tidy clusters or removed for sharing and transplanting.
-
Growing Conditions:
- Sunlight: Hens & Chicks thrive in full outdoor sunlight to showcase their best colors and maintain their tight rosette shape.
- Soil: Well-draining, gritty soil is ideal for these hardy succulents.
- Watering: Weekly watering during spring and summer is recommended. If temperatures exceed 80°F (27°C), provide afternoon shade.
- Cold Hardiness: ‘Faramir’ is frost-hardy and can withstand winter conditions, even under a blanket of snow.
- Zone: Hardy in zones 5 to 10 (down to -20°F/-29°C).
- Special Characteristics: ‘Faramir’ is easy to propagate, pet-safe, and produces lots of offsets.
- Deer / Rabbit Resistant
- Pollintor friendly: Attracts bees and butterflies
