A stately herbaceous perennial or biennial that graces gardens with its elegant presence. Here are some key details about this delightful plant:
- Flower Description: Upright spires of dangling, crushed strawberry-pink, bell-shaped flowers with maroon spotted throats.
- Blooming Season: Profuse blooming occurs from late spring to early summer.
- Attracts: Hummingbirds, which hover near the tubular blossoms.
- Foliage: Even when not in bloom, the glossy green leaves always look fresh and catch the eyes of passers-by.
- Growth Habit: Forms a low rosette of ovate to lance-shaped, toothed leaves in the first year, bursting into flower the second spring.
- Height: Grows up to 2-4 feet tall
- Spread: Spreads to a width of 20-24 inches (50-60 cm).
- Preferred Conditions:
- Sun: Partial sun or light dappled shade.
- Soil: Humus-rich, moist, well-drained soils.
- Tolerance: Deer and rabbit tolerant.
- Toxicity: Highly toxic by ingestion. Handle with care, wear gloves, and wash hands after handling.
- Use in Gardens: Excellent for mixed beds, open woodland gardens, cottage gardens, or city gardens.
- Propagation: Can be propagated by seed or division (removing offsets) in spring. It may also self-seed but may not come true unless plants have been grown in isolation.
Remember that this lovely foxglove is both a visual delight and a cautionary presence due to its toxicity.
*If plant is too tall during shipping time, it may be trimmed down. Some soil may be removed.
