Karmina Cranesbills are hardy Geraniums that feature lilac-pink flowers that open from dark red buds. These charming blooms appear heavily from late spring to midsummer. The foliage consists of aromatic, rounded, lobed green leaves that turn red-tinged in the fall. It’s a semi-evergreen, mat-forming perennial that grows 6-8 inches tall (15-20 cm) and spreads gently by underground stems to form a respectable carpet.

  • Ideal Growing Conditions:
    • Sunlight: It performs best in full sun or part shade.
    • Soil: Moderately fertile, well-drained soils are ideal. It can tolerate some drought but prefers moist, humusy soils with good drainage.
    • Shade Tolerance: It can handle full shade.
  • Uses:
    • Groundcover: Due to its long flowering season, it’s great for edging or massing as a groundcover.
    • Garden Plant: Use it in beds, borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, or on banks and slopes.
    • Low Maintenance: It requires very little maintenance and is fairly pest and disease-free.
  • Propagation: You can propagate it by division between early fall and early spring or cut back plants after flowering in summer, then divide, replant, and water well.
  • Care Tips: Remove flowered stems and old leaves to encourage fresh leaves and flowers. In hot summer climates, you can lightly shear it back after flowering to revitalize the foliage.

Overall, the Geranium ‘Karmina’ is a lovely addition to any garden, offering beautiful blooms and easy care.
