Obedient plants, aka False Dragonheads, have unusual flowers in that you can move them around and they'll stay put. Hence the name "Obedient Plant". This version, 'Miss Manners', has gorgeous white snapdragon-like blooms on stalks. A naturally occurring seedling of Physostegia virginiana 'Rosea' it is a patented cultivar that is distinguished by its (1) non-spreading, clump-forming growth habit, (2) compact growth, (3) sturdy upright stems that do not flop and (4) long season of bloom.
Physostegia (Obedient Plant) - a genus of North American wildflowers.

Preferred growing conditions:
Plant in most soil types including clay. Physostegia prefers to be planted in a full to partial sun locations.
Mulch with common mulching materials except of moisture climates where plants should remain un-mulched.
Obedient plant likes moderately to moist soil conditions so regular irrigation is needed to establish and maintain plants in arid climates. Rainfall is generally sufficient in moister Eastern climates.
Deadheading will help to keep the plants blooming longer into the late summer. Clip off primary flower spike to encourage new flower buds to form lower on the flowering stem.
Fertilize lightly in the fall with a half and half blend of Yum Yum Mix and good quality compost.
