Sempervivum 'Red Rubin' Hens & Chicks, 4" Pot Live Plant

Sempervivum ‘Red Rubin’, commonly known as Hens & Chicks, is a delightful mat-forming succulent perennial. It forms large, evergreen rosettes of fleshy, emerald green leaves adorned with burgundy-red tips. The color intensity varies by season, becoming more pronounced in cooler temperatures, creating a showy display in fall or winter. In summer, a thick flowering stalk emerges from the center of the “hen” rosette, bearing starry, light pink flowers. These plants are monocarpic, meaning they die after flowering, but the offsets (or “chicks”) they produce usually compensate for the losses. Sempervivum ‘Red Rubin’ is cold-hardy, drought-tolerant, and thrives with minimal care. It’s perfect for rock gardens, containers, and as an edging plant.
